Day 3 anddddd OMG

Is it true down 9 pounds? Already!! Yes, I understand that this is mostly water weight, but yeah it feels good to see that scale drop. I stood there for a moment and said maybe when I first weighted myself I read it wrong... I was in disbelief! New BMI is 25.7 wow a lot better!

I know I said my pain purpose for doing this cleanse was to get my bodier healthier and to see if it will help with my pain... I know I have to lose weight to be healthy. I would like to be in the normal BMI range for my height and age.

All I can say is it is definitely helping me to stay motivated by looking at the scale!

Isn't it funny people will do things to their body while knowning the harm it can cause without care but as soon as it shows us a difference we can physically see thats when we want to make a difference....

FOR EVERYONE TO RESPOND: WHAT HAS BEEN THE HARDEST PART OF THE CLEANSE SO FAR

FOR EVERYONE TO RESPOND: WHAT HAS BEEN THE HARDEST PART OF THE CLEANSE SO FAR....

For myself.. when I am cooking or preparing food for my husband and my daughter I find myself putting food right into my mouth without thinking. It’s actually kind of neat to realize this and catch myself in the act. I think about all the times I have to stop myself from doing this and then add up how many times during the day I am eating something without even realizing! VERY INTERESTING!!!

So today I found out more bad new going on in my personal life... Im getting pretty frustrated....

Master Cleanse ingredients and their properties

The basics of what is inside each ingredient. Each works with your body differently, but it is good to know what is in each of these ingredients when choosing to do this cleanse!

Obviously these ingredients were selected because they compliment your body with cleansing it out.

Maple Syrup

Like mentioned earlier there are different grades of the Syrup. Depending on when it was collected some may have more nutrients than others. Grade B is the best the second best would be Grade A Dark Amber, then Medium Amber and Light Amber.

Potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, sodium, iron, zinc, copper, tin, sulfa, and silicon. Vitamins A, B1, B2, B5, B6, biotin and folic acids are present as well along with minuscule amounts of amino acids.

Lemons

Are acid foods yet highly alkalizing to the body when digested.

Contains calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, sodium, zinc, copper, selenium, iron and anions.

Lemons are high in Vitamin C. Also lesser amounts of thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid (vit B5) and vitamin B6. In addition they contain small trace amounts of protein and fiber, plus an assortment of other trace nutrients. There are also about 4 insignificant calories per tablespoon of lemon.

**Do not use Meyer Lemons

Cayenne Pepper (aka the master herb)

Cayenne pepper acts as a catalyst which makes other herbs react more sufficiently within your body.

Cayenne is high in both Vitamin A & C and some B vitamins as well. It also contains potassium and calcium, both of which make it highly alkalizing to the body. Capsaicin is the most active compound found in the cayenne pepper.

Water

USE GOOD WATER!!! EVEN THE WATER IN YOUR TAP MAY BE SUFFICIENT!

Try to use water free of impurities or chemicals. The best pH level is 7 on a range of 0-14.

Shopping List pg. 66

For a 10 day cleanse you will need the following: (approximately)

1) 60-80 lemons (preferable organic) The organic ones aren't too much more expensive. At my store I can purchase them at a rate of 3 for $2.00. *I wouldn't purchase more than 3 days worth of lemons at a time. You don't want to throw money away if they spoil!!

**Also... If you are not a fan of lemons you can use limes. Make sure they are yellow in color to be ripe. A dark green lime is not ripe and you do not want to use that! **Store at room temperature, lemons and limes do go bad quicker when refrigerated.

2) 2 quarts of Maple Syrup - Maple Syrup has different grades. Grade B is the one that has the most nutrients in it and tastes the best. This is also the one recommended to use during the cleanse. If you are unable to get it like I did, I wouldn’t sweat it. Also in the drink mix I mentioned to use 2 Tablespoons of the syrup. If you are looking to lose weights while doing this cleanse use only 1 Tablespoon, if you are looking to maintain your weight or bulk up while on the cleanse use 2-3 Tablespoons. Please don’t eliminate it because it has things your body needs! (This will be all put into another post!)

3) 1/2 Sea Salt – In the morning of day one you can either repeat the laxative of your choice or use an internal salt water bath.

A. Use 2 teaspoons of UNIODIZED SEA SALT to 1 quart of warm water

Now you can choice to omit the salt water bath if you choice… but know the facts first!

Salt water bath – can start to be eliminated from the body within 30 min but take as long as 90 min. The final elimination will also occur around 1 hour after the first. This can be a good thing if you are a very busy person or if you want to be able to time when you’re BM are going to occur. (If you pass the salt water through you, don’t worry, add more salt next time.

The herbal laxative can cause cramping due to the discharge of the nasty stuff inside of you J However this is pretty much the point of the cleanse. Tom describes in his book that he normally does the salt water bath 3x out of the 10 day cleanse. Day 1, on either day 3 or 4 then again on day 7 or 8. This is what I’m going to do.

4) 10 gallons of good water (more if you want to drink it both as water and tea) – It is recommended not to use distilled water, if you do it is also recommended to put out into the sun for 2-3 days to be recharged and then add back trace minerals by shaking a few grains of sea salt or trace mineral supplements in liquid form.

5) 2 ounces cayenne pepper

6) Sufficient herbal laxative (this can be a herbal laxative tea as well) - Like I mentioned before start off taking a laxative or drinking the tea the night before. You want to make sure your having 3-4 BM a day. (I do believe it takes a couple days to get to this point... most people needed to do the cleanse probably are not on a regular schedule, so everyone's BM will be different. Some may start to have the BM sooner than others. **Another important factor about the herbal laxatives.....

A. Can be used as a herbal tablet, capsule or tea.

B. The herbal tea might be too weak and you will have to use two bags. First make it according to the directions and then adjust if needed. (Again not everyone will be the same :) )

C. When using in tablet or capsule form you generally need 3-5 of them to create the desired results.

D. Whatever form you use MAKE SURE YOU USE EVERY NIGHT WHILE ON THE CLEANSE!!!

E. The laxative may cause diarrhea with some people, if this is true for you, stop using until the diarrhea goes away. Please keep in mind that this is a monodiet, with no fiber. It may appear that you have diarrhea when you do not. It can take 2-3 days for the bm to change from firm to lose. I would stop using the laxative only when and if it seems as if there is no control over the colon and you have to RUN repeatedly to the bathroom.

7) (If needed) set of measuring spoons, including 1/2 teaspoon size

Good luck and I hope this information was helpful to anyone who does not have the book!

Day 2

9:00 AM

So far so good. I definitely woke up today with no hunger pains at all, which is good because I thought for sure I was going to have some in the morning!!

*TIP* For those of you who don't know... make a fresh drink when you feel hungry. I’m not sure if I mentioned it in an earlier post... however in the book it does mention for have between 6-12 drinks a day. However it is also mentioned that people who are using the cleanse strictly for the cleanse only can drink more throughout the day. I look at it this way... you will know what your body needs. The more active you are the more drinks you are most likely going to drink...

A 10 day shopping list and some alternatives will be coming next!

My progress....

9/27/2009 The night before.. 173lbs

BMI 27.1 this is considered overweight.

I am hoping by the time I end my cleanse I will be at a normal weight and in less pain. :) I have gained 13lbs in the past month since coming off of my pain medications. This is am hoping to lose plus another 10. 150 is my ideal weight. So for being 5'7'' and weighing 150 lbs my BMI would be 23.5. Of course I do not think this cleanse will get me to my ideal weight but it is the beginning of a new healthy eating habits and a new mentality.

BMI Categories:

  • Underweight = <18.5
  • Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
  • Overweight = 25-29.9
  • Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

Here is a link where you can calculate your BMI...

http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

Keep the following in mind:

BMI is a reliable indicator of total body fat, which is related to the risk of disease and death. The score is valid for both men and women but it does have some limits. The limits are:

  • It may overestimate body fat in athletes and others who have a muscular build.
  • It may underestimate body fat in older persons and others who have lost muscle mass.

Qoutes from the book

Throughout the book I will be posting some quote that I have found interesting! ENJOY! Feel free to add your own as well!!!

pg. 28 "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them." Albert Einstein

Day 1

So far so good...

Of course I have felt as if I am hungry but it’s really not that bad... yet (j/k)!

Alright so for those of you who haven't bought the book and I going to list a few important things you must do:

1) The night before you start the cleanse make sure you either take an herbal laxative or drink a herbal laxative tea.

2) Day 1 has come!!! For your drink do these simple inexpensive steps:

a. 2 Tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice

b. 2 Tablespoons of Natural Maple Syrup - The darker the grade the better tasting and more nutritious!

c. 1/10 teaspoon cayenne powder

d. Add 8oz or 1 cup of cold water

e. DRINK UP

Yup that’s all there is to it.

Tom Wholoshyn does mention in his book that many people will choose to alter their diet the week before to make this cleanse a little more bearable. You can do this by switching to a vegetarian or vegan diet. :)

The Day Before

So it is about 9:35 am Wednesday August 27, 2009

Tomorrow morning I will be starting The Master Cleanse! I am excited and also a little weary of what may come out of this (or from down below....)

I have been doing INTENSE research on this cleanse!

First of all... I wonder if people will even read this blog and/or respond and leave comments...

not sure yet....

MY REASONS TO BEGIN THE CLEANSE

1) I have been dealing with insane chronic pain for the past 3 years or so. I have copious and CPP (Chronic Pelvic Pain). About a month in a half ago I decided to come off of all of my medications... these were some pretty heavy duty meds as well.

2) Since I have been off the medicine not only have I put on more weight but I still experience the same amount of pain.

3) After all the research I have done to help with both my problems of being overweight (I will have numbers up later.. my husband is picking a scale up for me on the way home from work..) and wanting to cleanse my body of all the toxins from the narcotics and possibly help with pain.. I choose this cleanse.

Right now I am a full time mother and a full time student online who is solo close to finally finishing up with my degree. However, with not only my pain but some major stresses in my life... which I may start blogging about as well, for some possible advice/help I feel like my life is on hold while everyone else’s is moving right along. Yes I know I could be dying or have some major ailment (sp?) but it is still something that holds me back and if there is something I could possible do to help, then it is worth a shot in my book....

I am sure I will write everyday probably at least twice a day so any comments about anything will be appreciated greatly!

I believe I am a pretty strong minded person and that I have control over my mind... I am hoping this will help me get through everything...
